Stopping Fentanyl & It’s a Spending Problem
United States Senator Ron Johnson - March 18, 2025
Stopping Fentanyl: The Halt All Lethal Trafficking of Fentanyl (HALT) Act passed the Senate last week with an overwhelmingly bipartisan vote of 84-16.
The HALT Fentanyl Act incorporates the permanent scheduling of fentanyl-related substances, which I first introduced in 2017 in the Stopping Overdoses of Fentanyl Analogues Act (SOFA). It ensures law enforcement has the tools they need to stop fentanyl's flow into our country. …
It’s a Spending Problem: As a member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance, I met with President Trump last week and we discussed my plan to get spending back to pre-pandemic levels – saving a minimum of $700 billion. There is so much room for reducing the size of the federal government and balancing the budget is entirely doable. I look forward to working with the White House and getting spending under control. |

Addressing Disparities in Early Voting
Opinion to Four Lakes Voices — Scott Grabins, Editor - March 21, 2025
In 2014, Governor Walker signed into law a bill to make early voting more universal across Wisconsin. One provision was to limit all municipalities to similar hours on weekdays. Another provision limited weekend voting. Ultimately these changes were overturned in court but disparities still exist. |
This spring, in Madison, there are 42 sites for in-person absentee voting. From March 18th through March 28th, if you live in Madison, there is a place to early vote from 10am through 7pm weekdays and at least 10am to 4pm on Saturdays and hours even at select churches on Sundays – how convenient if it’s your church!
Time to Prove Action Have Consequences
Opinion to Four Lakes Voices — Dave Glomp, President, SAFEDANE - March 24, 2025
I’m writing this message to say that the American people are watching the destructive actions including fire bombing and shooting up Tesla Dealerships. Also the fighting and damage related to the eruption of so called free speech demonstrations on our college campuses, promoting Anti-Semitism, which is hate speech, thus a hate crime.
I don’t know about you, but my parents when I was growing up, clearly sent me the message that all actions have consequences, many being negative, hurtful and some even end in law breaking. I’m wondering if many on the left missed this message or if it was never sent by their parents? I’m calling for arrests, trials, and, when convicted, harsh penalties handed out by the courts.
Speaking of Consequences…
