Things They Do Not Tell Us About Greenhouse Gases

There is a lot of misinformation and omitted information when it comes to climate.

  1. The most important abundant greenhouse gas is water vapor. It is 50 times more abundant than CO2. It is about 2% of the atmosphere and CO2 is about 0.042 percent.

Water vapor is 11,000 times more abundant than methane (natural gas) and 60,000 times more abundant than nitrous oxide. These are the four most abundant greenhouse gases.

At present rates of increase it will take 180 years for CO2 to double, and 275 years for methane and nitrous oxide to double. Water vapor is relatively stable and precipitates (rains) out of the air and returns again as water vapor caused mainly by the sun warming the oceans.

This evaporating, the wind moving moist air of different temperatures, and raining are the basis for all of earth’s weather and climate. There are many positive and negative feedbacks that regulate water and the other greenhouse gases.

  1. Earth produces and releases between 20 and 50 times more CO2 than man, depending on the estimate source. The earth recycles all-natural production and about 50-60% of man’s contribution. During Covid CO2 emissions were down significantly because we shut down so much of the world. Yet, the rate of CO2 increase in the atmosphere didn’t change at all.

CO2 is airborne Miracle-Gro. Greenhouses pay to add CO2 because plants grow so much better with it. Most plants grow better with three to five times more than we have in the atmosphere now. Worldwide crop yields and harvests are increasing in nearly every country and every crop.

NASA tells us that the world is 35% greener over the last forty years because of the additional CO2. They attribute 70% of this greening to the additional CO2.

  1. Humans need to inhale trace amounts of CO2 to regulate our breathing, just like we need to inhale larger amounts of oxygen. Humans and all moving things exhale CO2 that plants then use, with nutrients and the sun’s energy to make chlorophyll. Which feeds the earth.

Each person exhales about 700 pounds of CO2 a year. More if you are active.
